Why Is It…

That when spanko people go on trips or adventures, they never do so purely for the trip itself? For instance, I recently found myself on an excursion up to a well known National Park. Normally when someone takes a trip to a national park the idea is to go hiking, see sights, admire wildlife, etc. All of these things were on the agenda for my trip as well, but when I go places there always seems to be another goal in mind. I’m sure all of you will really be wracking your brains right now trying to guess what that goal might be. Well I’ll give you a hint: it involves smacking noises coming from behind things like piles of rocks and naturally secluded areas. Sometimes the areas aren’t that secluded at all, actually.

Anyway, this phenomenon is not just a national park thing. I personally have been spanked in varying degrees of undress at almost every single public landmark I’ve visited since I started visiting such places with like-minded people. I wonder why that is? One never sees “normal” people acting out their own fantasies blatantly in public places (although I do have hopes that the normal people don’t see me doing these things either). Do people with a spanking fetish have a higher tendency toward exhibitionism? Is it a matter of my not noticing the exhibitionistic behavior of others because I am not “tuned in” to notice it? Maybe there is a combination. All I know is that when spankos indulge in a public display of affection, it can be heard for hundreds of feet!

  1. Did a nasty old beaver spank you with his tail? Ah wilderness! I knew all that time as a boy-scout would pay off. Lead me to the nature trail.

Risk of being caught, Pumpkin, puts the edge on things, I’d think. And, of course, just an extra bit of naughtiness to be spanked all the harder for.

  2. From both observation and personal experience I see a definate crossover here. The problem is that most members of the general public don’t ‘get it’, and give all the wrong reactions if they catch you at it. Oddly enough these people who don’t get it are just as likely to consider a wide range of inexplicable behavior to be perfectly normal and acceptable.
As jeoffry points out the risk of being caught can add a lot to an experience, just as can performing at play parties, or on certian websites I’ve heard rumors of. It’s great, isn’t it? I love it!

  3. Bialey, people do strange things at times and sometimes it may take some spankings out in the woods or on pivate property or on famous landmarks and maybe national parks. People do that though. I have never seen anyone do that in public though. I don’t have anything against it, I say let them go ahead and do it but try not to get caught. I think that this is very normal to some people and i am not against it. To a lot of people though they want to try an experience like this. I don’t think that most of them don’t really want to get caught at it though. Love you Bailey, Norman

  4. I think some spankos are also exhibitionists (and, flip side, voyeurs). The kink entails baring for punishment body parts that are usually covered, but that doesn’t explain the strappy leather costumes worn by both tops and bottoms in BDSM, or the skimpy schoolgirl outfits beloved by many female spankees. So I think there are some spankos who also like to “show off.”

But I haven’t an exhibitionistic atom in my body, yet I’m attracted by “public spanking” scenarios, so it’s not JUST exhibitionism. As a top, one of the forms of discomfort I enjoy inflicting is embarrassment, in the form of skimpy attire, levels of nudity not necessary just to bare the body parts to be punished, exposed spanking positions, and revealing cornertime. I think imposing anxiety due to the RISK of discovery would be part of that too. During the spanking, or cornertime after, the spankee is not only in pain from the spanking, and embarrassed by being bared, but fretting that some random stranger will hear, or worse see, what she’s being subjected to. It also makes her want to make less noise, which adds yet another degree of difficulty to her ordeal.

(All that ignores the consensuality of the situation; the spankee is as likely as not an exhibitionist who enjoys being bared and would be excited if random strangers were watching. Like a lot of the kink, in our imagination, during the scene, we each ignore what the other is actually feeling and substitute what each other would be feeling if the spanking were non-con. It’s part of roleplay.)

Lastly, following up on what nnjjkk wrote, “risky” sex is a whole kink unto itself, apart from exhibitionism and spanking, and I’m sure some spankos are into that, too. An exhibitionist wants to be seen; someone into risky sex enjoys the CHANCE of being seen but does NOT want to get caught. He wants to take the chance and get away with it. Emotionally it’s kind of like shoplifting or skydiving (if anyone but me can see ANY similarity in the emotions of those two activities) — the point is to have something bad almost happen — you have to feel something COULD have gone wrong or there’s no thrill — but not have it actually happen. I see public spanking as a form of risky sex.

  5. I agree that the danger is a big part of this. I used to think I liked the danger of being in public, but didn’t actually want to get caught. Of course, that was before I got caught. Then I realized I liked that too. What a cheap thrill! I do wonder if vanilla people have similar things going on that we are just too oblivious to notice, other than the cliche sex in public.
